Who We Are
Caliber is a mobile coaching application for iOS that helps users improve their dating-app and texting conversations using AI-powered feedback. You screenshot a conversation, Caliber reads the text on your device, and Caliber returns coached reply suggestions with reasoning. The Caliber application and this privacy policy are operated by Crown and Oak LLC (“Caliber,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Caliber is not a dating service. We do not match users with each other. Caliber is single-user coaching software.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to operate Caliber, deliver coaching, and improve the product. The categories below match our App Store privacy disclosure exactly.
Information You Provide
- Account information: Caliber creates an anonymous, device-based account for you automatically. You are not required to give us your name or email. You may optionally use Sign in with Apple, in which case Apple may relay an email address to us for account continuity. We generate a unique anonymous account identifier for you.
- Conversation content: the screenshots and conversation text you submit so Caliber can coach you. Caliber reads the text from your screenshot on your device, then sends that text to our AI provider to generate reply suggestions (see Third-Party AI Processing). We do not store your screenshots or conversation text on our servers; we retain only analysis metadata such as momentum scores and the cross-conversation context that powers your Playbook.
- Subscription status: whether you are on a free trial, active subscription, or no subscription. Apple processes your payment; we never see your card details.
- Support communications: if you email [email protected], we keep the contents of that email so we can respond and improve our support.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Device identifiers: a device-specific identifier for authentication and account continuity.
- Usage data: which features you use, how long you spend in the app, and which screens you view. We use this to improve the product.
- Diagnostic data: anonymous crash logs collected through Sentry. This is not linked to your account and is not used to track you.
Information We Do Not Collect
Caliber does not collect:
- Your real name (we use a display name only if you choose to set one)
- Your physical address
- Your phone number
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Health, fitness, or medical data
- Browsing or search history outside Caliber
- Advertising identifiers (we do not show ads; we do not track you across other apps or websites)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate Caliber’s coaching features (your submitted conversation content powers the AI’s reply suggestions to you)
- Maintain cross-conversation context (your Playbook) so coaching stays relevant over time
- Maintain your account and subscription
- Detect and fix crashes and errors
- Respond to your support requests
- Measure aggregate retention and feature usage to improve the product
- Comply with our legal obligations (e.g., tax retention of subscription records)
We do not use your information to:
- Show you advertising
- Track you across other apps or websites
- Sell your information
- Train AI models (your data is used only to generate responses to you; see Third-Party AI Processing)
Third-Party AI Processing
Caliber uses Anthropic (the Claude API) to generate AI coaching responses. This means that when you use the coaching features, the conversation text read from your screenshot on your device is sent to Anthropic for processing. We do not store your screenshots or conversation text on our servers; Anthropic processes the text to generate the reply suggestions we return to you.
Before any data leaves your device for AI processing, Caliber asks for your explicit consent and names Anthropic by name. You can review and revoke this consent at any time in Settings → AI Provider Consent. If you revoke consent, AI coaching features will not work until you re-enable consent.
We have configured our integration with Anthropic so that your data is:
- Not used to train their models
- Processed only to respond to your request
- Subject to their data processing agreement, available in Anthropic’s Commercial Terms of Service
If we change our AI provider, we will update this policy and ask for your consent again before sending data to the new provider.
Sharing Your Information
We share your information only as described below.
| Recipient | Purpose | Information shared |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Inc. | Subscription processing | Purchase event, subscription status |
| Supabase Inc. | Backend hosting (anonymous account, database, edge functions) | Your anonymous account identifier, analysis metadata, and usage data |
| Anthropic | AI coaching | The conversation text read from your screenshot (with consent); not stored on our servers |
| Sentry | Crash diagnostics | Anonymous crash traces, not linked to your identity |
| Legal authorities | Required by law | As specifically required |
We do not sell your information. We do not share your information for marketing or advertising purposes.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to operate Caliber and meet our legal obligations.
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Anonymous account identifier (and optional linked email) | Until you delete your account |
| Conversation screenshots and text | Not stored on our servers. Your conversation text is sent to Anthropic to generate coaching and is not retained by us. |
| Analysis metadata (momentum scores, Playbook context) | Until you delete your account |
| Crash and diagnostic data | Sentry default retention; not linked to your identity |
| Subscription history | 7 years (legal/tax retention floor) |
